The iPhone 15/16 May continue to use Qualcomm 5G baseband, and Apple's own 5G chip will be available as soon as 2025
Oct 08, 2022| The iPhone 15/16 May continue to use Qualcomm 5G baseband, and Apple's own 5G chip will be available as soon as 2025
Since acquiring Intel's baseband business in 2019, Apple has been known to make its own 5G chips for the iPhone. However, the process won't be easy, and according to a new report, Apple's homegrown 5G baseband won't be available until 2025 at the earliest.

Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Securities, said in a new research note that the 2024 iPhone model (expected to be named the iPhone 16 series) will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G baseband, which is expected to be the Snapdragon X75. While the baseband hasn't been announced yet, the analyst said the X75 uses TSMC's 4nm process, like the X70, to help improve energy efficiency.
