Oct 07, 2022| Apple shipped 40.5 million Q2 tablets worldwide
Data analytics firm IDC recently released its global tablet shipment figures for the second quarter of 2022. Global tablet shipments reached 40.5 million units in the quarter, up 0.15 percent year-on-year, the data showed.
Thanks to its excellent user experience, Apple still leads the tablet market, shipping 12.6 million units in the second quarter of this year, with a market share of 31%, ranking first. In addition, Samsung shipped 7.3 million tablets, with a market share of 18.1 percent, ranking second. Lenovo and Huawei also performed well, with 3.5 million and 2.1 million units shipped, ranking fourth and fifth respectively.

Shipments in the quarter were higher than expected due to China's "618" promotion and Amazon's Prime Day event in the United States, IDC said. In addition to the top five brands, new entrants such as Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo and RealMe are also doing well, all contributing to the growth of the tablet market.

Anuroopa Nataraj, senior research analyst at IDC, said the growing use of tablets as an alternative to PCS has further expanded the market. Second, many vendors have done a very good job with their distribution strategies and have been able to fully supply tablets for the education market. In addition, the number of cheap tablets is proliferating, and some manufacturers are continuing to tap demand for devices used in education.
