New York City passed the ban on scented electronic cigarettes in July 2020

According to a comprehensive report, the New York City Council passed a resolution banning scented e-cigarettes Tuesday by 42 votes to 2.

According to the associated press, the number of young people using e-cigarettes has increased rapidly in recent years, and lawmakers supporting the bill say they are protecting young people using e-cigarettes. Mark Levine, a democratic city councillor, said there were no other obligations more important than protecting children's health.

After the ban was passed, supporters of e-cigarettes dropped money from the balcony of the forum to protest. There are also concerns that when fragrance e-cigarettes are banned, many people will return to traditional cigarettes.

According to reports, in Manhattan, New York, although the store owners have reduced their stock of scented e-cigarettes, they still account for 75% of their business. Under the new law, shopkeepers could face a fine of at least $1000 for selling scented e-cigarettes.

According to the latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and prevention, more than 2200 people in the United States have been treated for diseases related to electronic cigarettes, 47 of whom have died.

The ban on scented electronic cigarettes, which will take effect in New York City on July 1, 2020, is expected to face legal challenges.
