Trump intend to end up NAFTA
Dec 03, 2018| US President Trump said recently that he will officially notify Congress that he will terminate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and urge Congress to approve the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement signed with the heads of Mexico and Canada. (USMCA).
After Trump issued a notice, a formal six-month waiting period will be initiated before Congress officially terminates NAFTA. During this waiting period, the White House will ask Congress to approve the USMCA signed by Trump and the Canadian and Mexican leaders during the G20 summit on November 30.
The United States and Mexico have signed the USMCA after months of difficult negotiations. However, the USMCA needs to be approved by the US Congress and approved by the Canadian and Mexican legislators before it can take effect.
It is reported that the old version of the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed by the United States, Canada and Mexico, and entered into force in January 1994. Trump became president in January 2017 and determined that part of the regional free trade agreement made the United States "loss". In April of the same year, it announced renegotiation.
