The iPhone 14 series was revealed to have raised prices by $100, with supply chain costs passed on to customers
Oct 08, 2022| The iPhone 14 series was revealed to have raised prices by $100, with supply chain costs passed on to customers
Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives revealed today that the price of the iPhone 14 will increase by $100. The iPhone 14 (128GB) will cost $899 as an entry model, which is the current iPhone 13's recommended retail price for 256GB, which is 6,799 yuan. The iPhone 14 Pro costs $1,099 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,199.

The iPhone 13 Pro will also increase from $999 to $1,099. Despite Apple's unprecedented processor "downsize" this year, the iPhone 13 is still powered by the A15 processor. However, the problem is that TSMC, Samsung and others have raised the price of chip foundry sharply, so Apple did not get a cheaper cost, so it has to pass on the pressure to consumers again. In fact, the starting price of the iPhone 13 last year was only 300 won lower than that of its predecessor, the iPhone 12 (64GB 6,299 yuan), due to foreign exchange rates.

According to the Sun, "Prices have been rising throughout the supply chain, and Cook will need to pass those costs on to customers when the new iPhone is released." Ben Wood of CCS Insight confirmed Dan Ives's view that Apple should raise prices, but that's up to Apple. 'There's no question that production and component costs continue to rise for all consumer-electronics manufacturers,' Mr. Wood added. He also pointed to the changing exchange rate this year as a factor.
