Stepping motor

A stepping motor is an open loop control that receives an electrical pulse signal and rotates the corresponding step angle according to the number of signals.

In amateur language, you push it and I move it. The moving angle is a step angle, which is a characteristic of a stepper motor. A step angle of 15 ° means that the motor rotates 15 ° each time a pulse is received.

So-called open loop is to control regardless of feedback.

Stepper motors rotate after receiving a pulse, but this is not guaranteed. For example, if the pulse frequency is too high or the load is too high, it will be out of step. In other words, it does not move to the position.

Therefore, when using a stepper motor, other devices need either position feedback or position feedback. Model car wheels, optical heads, camera heads, various industrial machine equipment, etc.

The principle of stepping motor and normal DC AC motor is different. Stepping rotation is based on different phase currents of the stator coil windings and torque generated by slots on the stator and rotor.
