Some factories of BMW are afraid of leaving the UK
Mar 06, 2019| Germany's BMW said that if the UK "no agreement" to leave the EU, the engine engine and Mini model factory produced in the UK may be partially moved to other places. It is said that this is the latest warning issued by the auto industry to Brexit.
The UK will withdraw from the EU on March 29, but the agreement between London and Brussels has been vetoed by the British Parliament, and the UK may be unsuccessful in Brexit, thus hitting trade.
According to reports, one of the risks of non-Agreed Brexit is that the engine made in the UK will no longer be considered to be produced in the EU, and some cars may not be able to reach about 55% to 60% of the requirements of many international trade agreements. The threshold of origin is the threshold.
Peter Schwarzenbauer, head of the BMW Mini brand, said at the Geneva Motor Show that “the engine has some flexible scheduling space in Austria. We need to make some adjustments to the Austrian factory.”
"We are preparing for this," Schwarzenbauer said.
He added that there is no final decision on whether to transfer some of the engine production from central England to Austria, and that the factory in central England produced more than 375,000 engines in 2018.
It is reported that the British automotive industry has flourished, but sales, investment and production are currently declining. Japan's Honda has announced plans to close the British factory, which has caused the biggest blow to the industry.
