Samsung Galaxy S23 or the entire line uses Qualcomm processors, Exynos will later be used in mid-range models
Nov 07, 2022| Samsung Galaxy S23 or the entire line uses Qualcomm processors, Exynos will later be used in mid-range models
According to a leaked poster from South Korean carrier KT, Samsung will be Unpacked on January 5 next year, when the new S23 series will be unveiled if nothing else. During its earnings call, Qualcomm revealed chips for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (released mid-month) and will have a larger battery.
According to sources, Samsung is currently expanding its Exynos platform market share with 5nm and 4nm nodes, but the Galaxy S23 series has been "forced" to use Snapdragon 8 Gen2 as the main processor model due to the low yield of the 4nm version and sub-standard heat dissipation and performance. A while back, it was revealed that the Galaxy S23 appeared on Geekbench, the first running score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with a single-core score of 1,485 and a multi-core score of 4,844.
In fact, the Exynos Galaxy S22 series was reported to have problems such as hot start and lag, which affected the reputation of Exynos chip. This means that Samsung's Exynos chip will not be used in the Galaxy S23 series to be launched next year. Samsung's own Exynos platform is likely to be used mainly by mid-range smartphones, rather than flagship models, the sources said.
