Rumor has it that the entry-level iPad 10 will ditch the Lightning port for USB-C
Oct 07, 2022| Rumor has it that the entry-level iPad 10 will ditch the Lightning port for USB-C
On Monday, apple icon MarkGurman posted on his latest show PowerOn that all new iphones released this fall will continue to use Lightning, but he expects the transition to usb-c in 2023. While the phone is slow, it's not hard to comb through Apple's tablet lineup and find that only the entry-level iPad digital line is still at the Lightning port, and the iPad Mini, Air, and Pro are all USB-C.

According to Gurman, the iPad10 will be updated in the fall with USB-C ports, which means Lightning will be gone for Apple's entire iPad lineup. Frankly, USB-C has more advantages than disadvantages in the long run, including faster transfer speeds and less cable/charging head waste. Of course, the iPad10 will have a larger 10.5-inch Retina display, an upgraded 5nmA14 processor, the cellular version will add 5G support for the first time, and better battery life, to keep it affordable.
