In 2009, a number of suppliers, including Apple, Samsung and Nokia, signed a "memorandum of understanding" that read, "The signatories agree to develop a common specification based on the USB 2.0 Micro-B interface that will allow handsets to be compatible with all chargers. For those phones that do not have a USB Micro-B port, the MOU allows the use of an adapter."
The 2009 MOU expired in 2014, and although the smartphone industry proposed a new one in 2018, the Commission rejected the request because USB-C had become increasingly common by then. However, the 2009 general specification focuses on the adapter wording.
To comply with the EU agreement, Apple introduced the Lightning to Micro USB adapter in 2012. The adapter was launched in Europe at the same time as the iPhone 5, with mixed results.
Following Apple's past solutions, there are two ways for future iphones to deal with the EU rule:
1. Attached conversion head, which has been done before;
2, directly cancel the interface, comprehensive no holes.
Industry analysts have previously said Apple has plans to make the 2021 iPhone a "wireless phone," aiming to offer a "fully wireless experience." The iPhone will have no Lightning, no data port, and no port designed to make it watertight. WIFI and Bluetooth are both based on wireless transmission at present, and wireless fast charging will be the first choice for charging non-porous iPhone.
