The more functions and performance of electronic equipment, the more complicated the structure, technology and system. The traditional analog technology power management IC is more difficult to meet the overall power management requirements of the system, and the price is more expensive. The core of the digital controller consists of three special modules: an anti-aliasing filter, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a digital pulse width modulator (DPWM). In order to achieve the same performance specifications as the analog control architecture, high resolution, high speed and linear ADCs as well as high resolution, high speed PWM circuit design are required. The resolution of the ADC must be such that the error is less than the allowable variation of the output voltage. The smaller the required output voltage ripple, the higher the resolution requirements for the ADC. At the same time, since anti-aliasing filters and pipelined or SAR analog-to-digital converters introduce loop delays, we urgently need high sampling rate analog-to-digital converters. The analog controller has inherent limitations on the possible pulse widths produced, while the DPWM can produce discrete and finite PWM width sets. From a steady-state output perspective, it is only possible to have a discrete set of output voltages. Since DPWM is part of the feedback loop, the resolution of the DPWM must be high enough so that the output does not show well-known limit cycles. The minimum number of bits required to display no limit perimeter depends on topology, output voltage, and ADC resolution. At the same time, the loop stability of the system is adjusted by the PI or PID controller.
