Oct 04, 2022| It is revealed that there are about 40 million 3nm A17 in stock, and next year's iPhone 15 will only be carried by the Pro series
According to @Mobile Chipmaker, Apple is currently preparing 40 million A17 (N3E) chips for the 2023 iPhone 15 series. It's safe to assume that next year's iPhone 15 series will also have the new processor only for high-end models. The blogger correctly predicted the iPhone 14's Pro-only A16 strategy, and beat Kuo and others to it
This is not surprising, given that Apple typically ships around 90 million new devices each fall, which can range from 80 million on a bad day to 100 million on a good day. 40 million A17s means that only about half of all new devices will be able to use the A17 processor.

It's clear that with next year's iPhone 15 processor, Apple will continue this year's strategy of differentiating the standard iPhone 15 from the high-end iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max models, boosting the latter's competitiveness and thus the company's results

According to media leaks, Apple's new A17 chip will be mass-produced using TSMC's latest 3NM iteration of the N3E process. N3E is an improved version of the N3 process, which is an improvement over the current N4 process used in the A16, but probably not as much as previous generations.
