Is it possible to use a transfer port on the iPhone?

Could Apple get around the EU rules? Some Internet users have a bad idea for Apple: stick with the Lightning port on the iPhone and ship it with a Lightning-to-USB-C converter.

I have to say it's a neat idea. But that is not allowed under European Union rules. Because the regulations clearly state that any device in question that supports wired charging must use a USB-C interface and remain accessible and operational at all times.
