Intel CEO meets with Samsung executives to discuss semiconductor cooperation
Dec 12, 2022| According to Businesskorea, on December 9, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger met with Kyung Kye-hyun, president of Samsung's Device Solutions (DS) division, and Kim Woo-joon, president of the network business unit of the Device Experience (DX) division, to discuss cooperation in the semiconductor sector.
After arriving in South Korea from Taiwan, Gelsinger visited Samsung's Hwaseong and Suwon campuses to meet with Samsung executives, including Kyung and Kim. They talked about how to weather the global economic downturn. Samsung and Intel are the top companies in the global semiconductor industry because they are the number one players in memory semiconductor and central processing unit (CPU), respectively, and they both compete and cooperate in the global semiconductor market.
This is Gelsinger's second visit to Korea this year, following her first in May. During a visit to South Korea in May, the Intel chief met Samsung chairman Lee Jae-yong to discuss cooperation in next-generation memory, system semiconductors, contract manufacturing, personal computers and mobile devices. However, Lee did not meet Gelsinger this time because he was returning that day from a business trip to the United Arab Emirates.
