The first is odor: the TPR of the general SBS substrate is higher than that of the SEBS substrate, and the general good TPE will be tasteless;
Second glossiness: TPR glossiness of SBS is generally better than that of SEBS. Of course, SEBS can also be shiny. The TPR of SBS substrate can also reach matte, but it can also reach matte. SEBS TPE feels good, while SBS TPR feels rough. In addition, the molecular weight distribution of SEBS is wide, and thermoplastic elastomers of the same molecular weight class have strong photosensitivity to imported products.
Third combustion: in thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), due to the high oil content of SEBS and the low content of SBS, it is necessary to distinguish SEBS from SBS. A simple way to do this is to use combustion. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) have gasoline flavor because of high hydrogen content, low smoke, spicy, weak gasoline taste. When SBS is added, it produces a lot of black smoke and a strong pungent smell. This method is widely used among customers to identify and judge the quality of products without professional knowledge.
Fourth viscosity: Because the oil absorption capacity of SBS is not as good as SEBS, in general, the TPR of SBS is easier to feel sticky than SEBS. Of course, some low molecular weight SEBS or their side cards stick easily.
The fifth processing temperature: the TPR of SBS substrate is thermoplastic at about 150℃, and the TPE of SEBS substrate is thermoplastic at about 180℃, which depends on its molecular weight. The higher the molecular weight, the higher the processing temperature.
