HiperPFS-5 uses quasi-resonant (QR) discontinuous on-mode (DCM) control technology to adjust the switching frequency in different output loads, input voltages and power frequency cycles
Oct 11, 2022| HiperPFS-5 uses quasi-resonant (QR) discontinuous on-mode (DCM) control technology to adjust the switching frequency in different output loads, input voltages and power frequency cycles
According to Jason Yan, Senior Training Manager at PI, PI's new PFC controller, the HiperPFS-5, differs from other PFC controllers in the market by incorporating a 750V PowiGaN power switch that provides excellent PFC performance at 90-308Vac inputs. 230Vac has 98.3% efficiency at full load.
HiperPFS-5 uses quasi-resonant (QR) discontinuous on-mode (DCM) control technology to adjust the switching frequency in different output loads, input voltages and power frequency cycles. Qr-mode DCM control reduces switching losses and allows the use of low-cost boost diodes; Compared with the traditional Critical on mode (CRM) boost PFC circuit, the size of boost inductor in DCM mode is reduced by half.
