Apple may have shelved the M1 Pro version of the Mac Pro, followed by the M2 Extreme version
Oct 08, 2022| Apple may have shelved the M1 Pro version of the Mac Pro, followed by the M2 Extreme version
Most of Apple's Mac devices have been updated with their own M1 or M2 chips, leaving only the Mac Pro line that still uses Intel cpus. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's plans to launch an M1 Pro version of the Mac Pro have been shelved. A Mac Pro with M2 Extreme chip will follow.

It is understood that the M1 Pro version of the Mac Pro may have been produced in part, but in the end Apple CEO Tim Cook decided not to sell it in favor of the M2 Extreme version, which means the new Mac Pro could be released as early as the end of this year or early next year.

The name M2 Extreme suggests that the processor will be an enhanced version of the M2 chip, with more transistors and a greater performance boost, though details of what it will look like have yet to be revealed. However, it has been revealed that the appearance of the new Mac mini equipped with M2 chip is the same as that of the previous generation, and only the replacement of the new MAC Mini is considered as the upgrade of the new generation.
