Apple is "abnormally increasing" production orders for the iPhone 14 / Plus and may cut prices to promote sales

Apple is "abnormally ramping up" orders for the regular iPhone 14 model ahead of a possible price cut, according to Nomura. According to Nomura, the possible reasons are: 1. Absorb the spare parts and capacity freed up by the production cut of the iPhone 14 Plus; 2. Prepare for special promotions.

Analysts believe Apple may be preparing an unprecedented price cut late this quarter or in the first half of next year to stimulate demand and destock. After rising 13 per cent in the third quarter, Nomura expects total iPhone production to decline for the third consecutive quarter, by 6 per cent in the fourth quarter, 8 per cent in the first quarter and 11 per cent in the second.

In early September, Apple officially announced the iPhone 14 series. The standard Edition models of the new phones used the previous generation's chip in a rare way. The market also reacted to this. Last month, news from the industry chain said that Apple has begun to significantly reduce production of the iPhone 14 Plus due to the exceptionally low demand. It has started to cut orders for the iPhone 14 Plus, which is estimated to be around 40%, which is the first time Apple has cut orders on such a large scale.
