This paper describes the design and implementation of a speed control driver for a two-phase brushless DC fan motor. In addition, motor coil current limiters, output stage buffer circuits and lock detection/auto-restart circuits have been added to the drive for improved stability and robustness. Due to the high frequency excitation noise generated by the open-loop fixed-frequency PWM speed control technology and the power consumption problem that can be omitted, several closed-loop speed control methods with speed estimation signal feedback are used for improvement. In addition, this paper proposes a sensorless drive control method to eliminate the Hall sensor in rotor position detection and a closed loop speed control method to achieve the purpose of reducing drive cost, size and good control performance.
