Apple has released the macOS Monterey 12.1 update, which introduces new features like SharePlay, Hide My Email, and Apple Music Voice, as well as a battery BUG fix. But some users are now reporting that they can't see the macOS 12.1 update on their M1 Macs. In particular, M1 Mac devices were unable to see this update and were not prompted to download the update when viewing system preferences.
The issue was also reported on Reddit's r/MacOS section, with users saying it seemed to affect some M1 Macs, but other users didn't have much to report on it. In addition, Christina Warren, senior cloud Developer advocate at Microsoft, reported a pause in downloading installers from the Mac App Store. Other users also verified the problem, leaving the affected users without an easy fix.
The Reddit poster suggests that particularly impatient users suffering from the problem can boot into Recovery and reinstall the macOS. The recovery tool will download the latest version of macOS. If you want to use the restore tool, you are advised to back up the current system.
