With the introduction of USB PD3.1 protocol, the output power of the charger is increased from 20V5A to the corresponding 28V, 36V and 48V, the current is still 5A, and the output power is increased to 240W synchronously, which greatly expands the use range of the charger and meets the needs of fast charging with more power.
An efficient, high-power density 240W gallium nitride application has been introduced to meet market demand.
This reference design uses the BTPPFC+LLC architecture, in which the PFC uses a bridge-free totem pole PFC topology, which eliminates the diode rectifier Bridges present at the input of traditional PFC circuits, resulting in a significant increase in efficiency and power density. The PFC switch tube adopts GaN, which can achieve higher switching frequency and further provide power density. LLC adopts high frequency scheme, the highest frequency is 400kHz, with small dead time of controller, can reduce the magnetic volume, reduce the line packet DC loss, effectively improve the efficiency and power density.
