Apple will update its iPad lineup in 2017, perhaps adding a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and expanded software features. Apple Pencil 2 is also rumored to be the second generation of Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil 2 will be magnetically attached to the iPad and will include a pen holder design. Now, Apple's MacBook line has switched to USB-C across the board, while the iPhone line still keeps Lightning. So the question is, where will the iPad line go?
Since the launch of the 12-inch MacBook, Apple has focused heavily on USB-C ports, as it did with last year's MacBook Pro line, and even removed the MagSafe port. For the iPad, the positioning is completely different from the iPhone. Apple has been marketing the iPad as a PC alternative, and if it wants to better support professional users, USB-C seems to be a necessary choice.
