When will the iPhone have a universal interface?

FireWire is an Apple story. For the consumer, for the industry, it's great but it's also expensive.
In the end, FireWire outweighed all the good. Less powerful, but cheap and compatible, USB won over the mass market and, with generation after generation, took up the mantle of FireWire, and here we have Thunderbolt. Firewire-free Macs are now using USB4-enabled USB-C ports, namely, Lightning 4 and Lightning 4.

In contrast to the zealous Mac, the iPhone is an old fogey, clinging not only to Lightning but also at USB 2.0 speeds, somewhat underperforming the "Pro" image. Fortunately, this year's iPhone 14 will have a change, but not a new port, but a speed boost.
