First, recently, representatives of the European Parliament and the European Council agreed to unify all portable electronic device charging ports in the European Union by 2024. By then, all portable electronic devices in the European Union, such as mobile phones and tablets, will have to use USB-C ports, which has caused a lot of discussion in the industry.
At present, almost all models launched by mainstream mobile phone manufacturers adopt USB-C interface. It is widely believed that Apple, which insists on using Lightning interface, will be most affected by this new regulation. Apple's right to speak in the MFi(Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad) certification, as well as related patent income of the interface, are considered as important reasons for its reluctance to give up Lightning interface.
