USB PD support device

USB PD capable device (a Host, a Device, a Hub, a Charge). These are for informational purposes only and do not limit the possible configurations of products built on this standard.

Each PD-capable device is considered to constitute at least one port. Providers are considered SRC and Consumers are considered SNK. Each device contains one or more of the following elements.

UFPs can be:

Received electricity.·

Optional power supply (a DRP device).

Data communication is optionally via USB.

Communicate with SOP Packets.

Optionally communicate with SOP* Packet.

DFPs can be:

powered by.·

Optionally powered (a DRP device).·

Optionally communicate with data via USB.

Communicate with SOP Packet.

Optionally communicate with SOP* Packet.

A SRC that can be:

An external power source (such as AC).·

Power storage device (such as a battery).

Derived from another port (such as a remote Hub).

A Sink can be:

Power storage device (such as a battery).·

A device used to power internal functions.

·Used to power devices connected to other devices.

A VCONN SRC can be:

It can be any port, either DFP/UFP or SRC/SNK.·

Power the Cable Plug.

At any time, only the port that provides the VCONN SRC can communicate with the Cable Plug.
