Oct 11, 2022| The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, to be released next month, is 10-20% stronger than the Snapdragon 8+, with 50% better AI performance
Recently, @iiceUniverse released a microblog to expose some information of Qualcomm's new generation mobile SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 again. According to the blogger, a rough figure for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 compared to the 8+ Gen 1 is: 10% improvement in CPU performance and 15% improvement in energy efficiency; GPU performance improved by 20%, and AI performance improved by 50%.
The news has not been confirmed by Qualcomm, the specific performance will have to wait until the release of terminal models equipped with the chip to know. As is customary, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is likely to be launched by the Mi 13 series, which has a fairly close collaboration with Qualcomm, and Lei Jun was speaking at the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 event when it was released last year. The Mi 13 series is expected to be released in November, followed by more flagship Android phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been tested by several major manufacturers and they are very happy with the results. The overall power efficiency of the new flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, will be at least 15% higher than that of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm's next flagship processor, is also expected to be manufactured by TSMC and still run at 4nm.
