Oct 08, 2022| The material cost of iPhone14 flagship models is about 20% more expensive than the previous generation, a record high!
A recent dismantling report from Japan has revealed that the total cost of parts for the flagship iPhone 14 series is about 20% higher than the iPhone13, a record high.
Parts for the iPhone 14 Pro Max total about $501, more than $60 more than the previous iPhone 13 Pro Max.

According to the report, the iPhone 14 Pro series cost increase is mainly related to the A16 Bionic chip. At $110, the chip is 2.4 times more expensive than the A15 chip in last year's iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The CMOS for the iPhone 14 is from SONY. The CMOS for the 48 megapixel main camera on the back of the iPhone 14 Pro is 30 percent larger and about 50 percent more expensive, at $15. The OLED panel comes from Samsung Electronics, the baseband chip from Qualcomm and the power management chip (PMIC) from Apple.
