The M2 chip also brings a dedicated media processing engine to the iPad Pro, providing hardware acceleration for ProRes and ProRes RAW. Correspondingly, the camera of the new iPad Pro also supports ProRes video shooting, which can be processed with the iPad Pro in one package.
And the still top-of-the-line screen. The 12.9-inch M2 iPad Pro features a mini-LED display with 2,596 full-array local dimming areas, a maximum full-screen brightness of 1,000 nits and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits under HDR. The 11-inch model doesn't have a mini-LED, but its 600nit peak brightness and heirloom 120Hz adaptive refresh are not far behind.
In addition, the new iPad Pro has added an Apple Pencil hover feature that allows you to preview strokes before you begin, which may narrow the gap between the iPad Pro and professional drawing boards.
And then there's the snag. Aside from the M2 chip upgrade, the iPad Pro remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, with the 11-inch model missing a mini-LED display and the rumored MagSafe wireless charging missing. The new iPad Pro is a decent iteration.
