The difference between thin film resistor and thick film resistor
There are two main differences between thin film resistor and thick film resistor:
First, the difference of film thickness: the film thickness of thick film resistor is generally greater than 10 μ m, and the film thickness is less than 10 μ m, mostly less than 1 μ m;
Second, the difference of manufacturing process, thick film resistor generally adopts screen printing process, film resistor adopts vacuum evaporation, magnetron sputtering and other process methods. The difference between thick film resistor and thin film resistor in material and technology directly leads to the difference in performance between the two resistors. In general, the precision of thick film resistor is poor, 10%, 5%, 1%, which is the common precision, while the precision of thin film resistor is 0.01%, 0.1% and so on At the same time, it is difficult to control the temperature coefficient of thick film resistor, which is generally large. Similarly, the thin film resistor can achieve a very low temperature coefficient, so that the resistance value changes very little with the temperature, and the resistance value is stable and reliable. So thin film resistor is often used in various instruments, medical devices, power supply, power equipment, electronic digital products, etc.
