Switching power adapter tips

Sep 04, 2018|

Overview:

The switching power adapter is a power supply conversion device for small portable electronic devices and electronic appliances.

Composition:

Switching power adapters are generally composed of a housing, a switch, a power transformer, and a rectifier circuit.

Classification:

Switching power adapters can be divided into AC output type and DC output type according to their output types; they can be divided into wall type and desktop type according to the connection mode.

Application:

Switching power adapters are widely used in telephone handsets, game consoles, language repeaters, walkmans, notebook computers, cellular phones and other devices.

Advantages:

The switching power adapter has a compact appearance, is easy to carry, and has a wide variety of uses, and is suitable for various environments and reliable quality.

The switching power adapter is generally composed of a casing, a power transformer and a distillation circuit. Generally, the power adapter has a nameplate, which indicates the power that can be withstood, the input and output voltage and current. The nominal voltage on the power adapter refers to the voltage outside the power supply, the voltage when there is no current, and the maximum voltage that the power supply can output. Understand the composition of the switching power adapter, then in the event of a fault, there will be a direction of maintenance.

First of all, you can check whether the line is faulty, whether the power line is damaged, whether the contact port is oxidized, and whether the input and output lines are energized. If these are the phenomena, then the power cord can be replaced to solve the problem. Secondly, the output voltage will be too high or too low. If the regulated sampling or voltage regulation control circuit has a problem, the output voltage may be too high. When the switching power supply load is short-circuited, the filter capacitor of the output voltage terminal or the rectifier diode fails, and the internal resistance of the power supply increases, the output voltage is too low. This situation can be solved in a targeted manner.

Sometimes the fuse is normal but there is no output voltage. At this point, check the starting voltage of the starter to see if there is any leakage. In another case, the insurance is burned. The checkpoints at this time are the rectifier bridge, each diode, the switch tube, and the large filter capacitor, but it is also because the interference circuit is out of order. In particular, the breakdown of the switching tube is not only a burn-in insurance, but also a control chip, a current detecting resistor, a thermistor, etc., which may burn out the power supply. It can also be said that the entire power adapter can be discarded.

The above is the basic knowledge of the switching power adapter, the switching power adapter needs to operate in a stable environment, generally use voltage protection, avoid no-load, short-circuit protection, etc., to prevent the switching power adapter from burning out.
