Sharp has unveiled a 4G flip phone, the AQUOS Keitai 4, in Japan. The appearance of the machine is very retro, the chip is also very retro, carrying three years ago Qualcomm Snapdragon 215, equipped with 1G+8G memory combination.
It is understood that Snapdragon 215 uses 64-bit architecture, built on 28nm technology, CPU is 4 core Cortax A53, the main frequency of 1.3GHz. In terms of performance, Qualcomm boasts a 50% improvement in CPU performance and a 28% improvement in GPU performance over the Snapdragon 210. In terms of baseband, it integrates Snapdragon X5 LTE baseband and supports dual Sim and dual VoLTE, but the downlink rate is only LTE Cat.4 (150Mbps). It was an entry-level chip at the time, and Qualcomm probably didn't expect it to be in new phones three years later.
The AQUOS Keitai 4 features a 3.4-inch screen with a 540 by 960 resolution, Bluetooth 5.0 support and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n). It measures 115 x 51 mm, is 16.9 mm thick and weighs about 121g. In addition, the machine also passed the IPX5 and IP5X and MIL-STD-810H standard dust and water test.
Although the phone runs Android, not many apps are expected to actually run smoothly, given the small memory and storage space. It was not immediately clear how much the new device would cost.
