Samsung's 2024 foldable phone will have a transparent PI substrate

South Korean media The Elec reported that Samsung has set a goal of using transparent PI substrates in its foldable phones by 2024, replacing the yellow PI substrates currently used, with the ultimate aim of allowing sharper photos to be taken by the under-screen camera. According to industry sources, Samsung Display has set a goal of applying transparent polyimide (PI) substrates to foldable phones to be released around 2024, and the current flexible organic light-emitting diodes (OLeds) used in mass production for foldable phone applications use yellow PI substrates, the report said.
