Not a word about the X90, but it's all X90
Oct 25, 2022| Not a word about the X90, but it's all X90
On this time node, vivo's video strategy press conference is naturally hidden hidden machine. vivo will focus on the technical details this time and will not mention the next flagship product, the X90. But if you think about it, you can see that these new technologies are just for arming vivo X90 series.
First and most importantly, vivo mentioned in this press release that it will be equipped with a larger CMOS area in the next generation of the product, with a sensor that is 77% more sensitive than the 1/1.3-inch GNV of the X80 Pro. As expected, officials here have already revealed the X90's image configuration -- an oversize 1-inch sensor.
Several foreign media focusing on Chinese smartphones have exposed the news that vivo X90 series will adopt a 1-inch sensor. The 1-inch sensor is the most sensitive of any mobile camera today, dramatically increasing the amount of light that comes in, leading to better night photography and detail.
At the conference, vivo also showed off the next generation of products with larger bottom live proof. It is not hard to see that this oversized sensor brings amazing color performance, as well as excellent detail performance. The higher light intake also further enhances the advantage of vivo's inheritable night scene. The film in extremely dark environment can also retain rich picture details and good light and dark contrast, bringing more immersive reality texture.
vivo has also warmed up a new generation of self-developed image chips. Although the official name and release date have not been announced, media leaks suggest that the chip will be named V2, along with the next vivo X90 series.
vivo's next generation chip is impressive, with a data processing rate of 1.3 Tbps, or 1.3 trillion bits per second, and an energy efficiency ratio of 16.3 Tops/w. In terms of computing power, the chip is already an industry benchmark. So what is vivo doing with all this computing power?
As it happens, vivo mentioned in the press conference that the chip has been upgraded from traditional ISP architecture to AI-ISP, which is equivalent to adding an AI brain to the traditional ISP chip. It can realize the upgraded AI-NR noise reduction algorithm, improve the picture details and improve the night scene noise reduction effect. There is also a new HDR tone fusion, which can not only enhance the dynamic range of the picture, but also leave a great room for professional users to mix colors. At the same time, the MEMC frame insertion algorithm is further enhanced to improve the picture quality and picture delay.
Ben Geskin has also made a rendering of vivo X90 Pro+ based on the leaks. The vivo X90 Pro+ is a rear-mounted quad-camera with four lenses evenly distributed in a large circle, including a submark-type telephoto camera, with the Zeiss blue label and flash placed directly to the right.
It can be seen that vivo X90 series will continue the family style cloud staircase design, the body glass and camera module ceramic pieces, bring a unique color contrast. The camera module is mainly composed of two elements: square and circle. The cloud staircase means "above the cloud staircase, the surrounding area". Even in the vast sea of machines, vivo X90 series also has a high degree of recognition.
Overall, the vivo X90 cliffhanger hasn't been completely revealed, but the most crucial details have been revealed. With an oversized 1-inch sensor and a new generation of AI-enabled ISP, the vivo X90 series will have a great video performance to look forward to until the real device is released.
