As a direct successor to the M2 chip, the latest news is that the core design of the M3 chip has been initiated. The chip is expected to be released in the second half of 2023. According to Commercial Times, the M3 chip, code-named "Malma" internally, will be mass-produced on TSMC's N3E process architecture. N3E is an enhanced version of the N3 process using a 3nm process. Sources say the N3 can deliver up to 15% performance improvement and up to 30% power reduction compared to the N5, and the N3E can further amplify these differences.
