Oct 07, 2022| It is also reported that Apple will develop a separate adapter to accommodate old and new iphones, as well as Apple devices with different jacks.
The proposal is more friendly to Android device makers, as most smartphones/tablets that have launched over the past few years running Android have USB-C ports. For Chinese users, Huamiov and other early mobile phone manufacturers have long been the embracers of USB-C. Therefore, if Apple makes changes as scheduled, domestic phone users who own both iPhone and other domestic mobile phones will be able to "run the world with one cable" from now on, saying goodbye to the trouble of borrowing from everywhere without Lightning charging cable.
In theory, however, Apple could get around the EU requirement in other ways. But the European Union is also trying to keep users happy by standardizing USB-C as the connector of choice for all its devices. Meanwhile, the EU rejected accusations that the move to USB-C would hamper innovation, saying: "The proposal states that if a new standard emerges that is better than USB-C, we can adjust the rules."
But Apple is concerned that European laws "forcing all devices on the market to use only one type of connector will slow down the introduction of beneficial innovations in charging standards, including those related to security and energy efficiency". However, however much it fights back against the EU, the proposal is likely to remain a "key reason" for the company to consider the change.
There are also rumors that Apple has developed an iPhone with no ports and has been "investigating the iPhone in recent years without a charging port." In other words, Apple's previous attitude may have been that it would rather make a phone without a charging port than use a USB-C port. But whatever the rumors, an iPhone without a charging port isn't here yet. Add in the new EU law, and the company is naturally more likely to consider USB-C.
The transition to USB-C may be followed by an adapter designed to connect UCB-C iphones to Lightning-port accessories. But at this point, it's unclear whether Apple will sell the adapter as a package with the smart device or separately.
It's not out of the question to make users pay a separate premium for the adapter, as Apple has done in the past. It is also reported that Apple will develop a separate adapter to accommodate old and new iphones, as well as Apple devices with different jacks.
