IPhone 8 and iPhone X all support fast charge: compatible with USB PD

Apple's 2017 fall event ended at 3am Beijing time on Sept 13 with a two-hour event that unveiled three new devices: the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the special 10th anniversary iPhone X. As for the fast charging part that we pay close attention to, Apple did not mention anything at the press conference. Then the charging head network came to Apple's official website. We were surprised to find that Apple's three new models are the same as we predicted many times before the press conference: all of them support fast charging! That means iPhone users will finally be able to take advantage of the feature that comes standard with Android devices.

Apple says it can charge up to 50% of the battery in 30 minutes on three new models of its MacBook series, using three USB-C power adapters (29W, 61W and 87W). Actually, for fast charging, just like the iPad Pro's 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch devices, use a USB-C to Lightning cable and a charger that supports USB PD protocol.

Meanwhile, Apple's website provides a detailed description of the compatibility of the iPhone 8 fast charge: Apple used pre-production iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models, software, and corresponding Apple USB-C power adapters in August 2017 (29W model A1540, 61W model A1718, 87W model A1719) was tested. The fast-charging tests were conducted using fully discharged iPhone models. Charging times vary depending on environmental factors, and actual results may vary.

Unfortunately, the new model doesn't support too much fast charging power because it can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes, but it's better than nothing. What's more, users need to buy the fast-charging accessories separately, because the charging accessories of the three new models are exactly the same as those of the previous generation: Lightning to USB cable and the ancestral 5W charger.
