Since the launch of the iPhone8/8 Plus, the buzz hasn't waned. This year, more attention has been paid to the topic of charging phones than ever before. USB PD charging technology will improve the user experience. Previously, the charging head network has been the first time to test the compatibility of the iPhone 8 Plus. The test results were also satisfactory, and many of you will be glad that you don't have to pay the high price for an official charger. But what do you know about the official claim that you can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes?
How fast is "Quick Charge"? How long does it take to charge an iPhone 8/8 Plus using a USB PD charger? High power charging, mobile phone will not be very hot? With these questions in mind, we ran a charge test of the iPhone 8 Plus between 0 and 100%.
The test environment temperature is about 28℃. The official Apple 29W charger, the official Apple double-headed Type-C cable and the Type-C to Lightning cable are used. Data from the entire test process were monitored using POWER-Z KM001. In addition, the charging temperature of the phone is obtained using the FLIR thermometer. The following figure shows the voltage and current change curves recorded by POWER-Z KM001 during the whole charging process. Yellow for voltage, cyan for current.
Although previous compatibility tests have shown that the iPhone 8 Plus supports a 15W fast charge and a 14.5V output from a 29W charger. However, as can be seen from the graph of this test, when the iPhone 8Plus is charged with the official 29W charger, the constant voltage is not the whole time. The 14.5V input only lasts for about 70min, and the voltage will automatically be reduced to 5V input in the later charging period until the phone is full.
