Oct 08, 2022| Eight of Apple's Macs are now classified as obsolete, including the first MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar
Today, Apple updated its list of obsolete products to include eight new MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac models released in 2015 and 2016. The latest Mac devices to join the obsolete list include:
- MacBook (12-inch, early 2016)
- MacBook Air (13-inch, early 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, early 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, two ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, four ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- iMac (21.5-inch, late 2015)
- iMac (27-inch, Retina 5K, late 2015)
Notably, the first MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar is now listed as obsolete. One of Apple's classic designs, the Touch Bar was first unveiled on the MacBook Pro in 2016. On the outside, the Touch Bar is a Touch screen that sits above the keyboard on the MacBook Pro's C-side, Users can tap directly to use fixed brightness, volume, Siri and other features, customize the touch bar function icon, or see the input of associative suggestions.

Unfortunately, on the 2016 MacBook Pro, the Touch Bar has obvious operation delay and delay, not to mention the problem of heat dissipation structure, the temperature of the area where the Touch Bar is located is high for a long time, which greatly affects the use experience. Apple has removed Touch Bar from its high-end MacBook Pro models, but users can still see it on the M2 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple classifies products that have not been sold for more than five years but less than seven years as obsolete. Users can still get service and parts from Apple officials or Apple service providers. If the product is not sold for more than seven years, Apple will classify the product as discontinued and stop providing hardware services for these products.
