Does fast charging depend on cable or charging head?

Jul 13, 2021|

Today, charging cables have become an essential part for our daily use , as a 10+ years experience manufacturer ,we mostly do OEM serice for customers,and we can produce a variety of cables,like long charging cable、high speed usb c cable, and Today SChitec will share some knowledge about charging cables with you.

Charger is usually 5V1A can charge normally, when the output is above 5V2A is counted as fast charge QC1.0, super fast charge support 5V3A, 9V2A,12V1.5A or 5V4A power. According to charging of auxiliary power, the inside of the cable copper batteries must support large current, the difference between this and the high tension line and ordinary household electrical wiring, fast filling line can use ordinary charger, can also be quick charge large current charger, instead, you use fast charge, take ordinary line, due to the transfer current can not meet the requirements, charging head will be automatically converted into low power charger.

In order to realize fast charging, both the data cable and charging head need to be adapted. In addition, the correct fast charging protocol is also needed. The three are complementary to each other. If a high-power charging head is used, but the data cable does not meet the fast charge standard, or the fast charge protocol of the charging head and data cable does not match, the fast charge standard cannot be met.

Another factor that determines whether a smartphone can be charged quickly is the fast charge protocol. At present, the mainstream mobile phone manufacturers have different fast charge protocols, the more popular is USB PD protocol, Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei are in use. USB PD can charge mobile phones and even laptops with high compatibility. However, Huawei has also developed a Super Charge protocol, which is not compatible with ordinary USB PD. In addition, the fast charging technology of OPPO and Vivo is also different from the mainstream USB PD, and even the data line is specially customized.

The data line is actually very easy to understand, simply speaking is the water pipe in the above example, a water pipe also has size, 16 pipes, 25 pipes and so on, of course, the thicker, the more water will flow through the water pipe. Take Huawei 3A data line as an example, which supports the maximum 3A current, then Huawei 22.5W/40W charging is not supported. If this data line is used for charging, no matter whether the charger is 40W or the mobile phone supports 40W fast charging, the maximum power should be 18W.
