Details of 16 Apple device chips were revealed, including iphones and ipads
Jun 08, 2024| As is customary, Apple is expected to unveil a new generation of iphones this fall. At the same time, given that Apple did not bring an iterative update to the iPad family of devices last year, it is speculated that it should launch a number of new iPad devices this year.
Now, with the advance of time, the latest Revelations also show 16 Apple will update the iPad and iPhone chip information this year.
In the list of chip identifiers, there are eight unreleased Apple devices, including two devices with the A14 chip, two devices with the A17 series chip, and four devices with the M2 chip.
Among them, the two devices equipped with the A14 chip are the Wi-Fi version of the 11th generation iPad and the Wi-Fi + cellular network version.
However, because the current 10th generation iPad has been equipped with A14 chip, the chip scheme shown in the latest revelation is also inconsistent with the previous configuration of the iPad (11th generation).
Therefore, there is also speculation that the two iPad devices with A14 chip could be Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + cellular network configuration improved version of the 10th generation iPad, or could be HomePod with a display.
Meanwhile, the device with the A17 series chip could be the much-anticipated iPad mini. The two models will be the seventh-generation iPad mini with Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + cellular configurations.
According to the Revelations, it may be equipped with the A17 Pro chip or a different version of the A17 chip. In contrast, the iPad mini device currently on sale is equipped with the A15 bionic chip, and the previous Revelations have mentioned that the next generation of upgrades is expected to be equipped with the A16 chip. Therefore, if the chip information displayed in the Revelations is accurate, then its actual performance upgrade is also of concern.
As for the four devices equipped with the M2 chip, the relevant speculation suggests that it should be the sixth generation of the iPad Air. According to previous news, Apple will bring 10.9 inch and 12.9 inch two sizes for this generation of iPad Air, and provide Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + cellular network versions.
On the outside, the sixth-generation iPad Air will have a redesigned rear camera module with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, but no major external design changes are expected.
For reference, the fifth generation iPad Air, which is currently on sale, was released in March 2022 and is equipped with the M1 chip. Therefore, this year's product upgrades should also focus on core performance parts.
The iPad Pro series will also be upgraded this year, and the core specifications are expected to be upgraded to M3 chips.
According to the news, the next 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro will be the first iPad products equipped with OLED display.
Compared to existing LCD panels, OLED technology will give the next generation of iPad Pro displays higher brightness, higher contrast, lower power consumption and other advantages.
iPad Pro models released in 2017 and later all support ProMotion, which supports a variable refresh rate between 24Hz and 120Hz. If the iPad Pro changes to OLED this year, it may support the lower limit of the refresh rate to further drop to 10Hz or lower, bringing a better battery experience.
In addition, the chip information of the new generation of iPhone series devices also appeared in the Revelations.
According to the news, the iPhone 16 series will use the same A18 series chip. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are still likely to use the A18 Pro named chip, and the standard version of the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may have some differentiated design.
As for the specific launch time, combined with the existing news, the new generation of iPad series devices are expected to debut this month, and the new iPhone 16 series will appear at the launch event in the second half of the year.
