Cool and quiet, Apple's new Head Display patent lets you immerse yourself in the game
Dec 09, 2022| The components of the headset can generate heat during operation. Prolonged excessive heat may damage the components of the headset and cause discomfort to the user. Although there are several cooling methods available in the ring, one of which is to embed an active cooling fan in the headset, the disadvantage is that it may generate noise and affect the user experience.
Apple's inventions cover systems that could provide a head-mounted device that effectively manages heat while also managing noise output in a way that reduces the user's perception of it.
Support extending in the runner may provide multiple sections within the runner with different profiles and/or cross-sectional dimensions. Each section and/or cross-section size can produce tonal noise at different frequencies, so the resulting tonal noise is distributed over multiple frequencies, making it possible to mask this tonal noise in the broadband noise generated by the headset.
Such a support can be movable in the flow path and rigidly connected to other components of the headset, such as the camera on the outside of the headset and the display module on the inside of the headset. Such supports can also be used to divert heat away from other parts of the headwear and away through the air in the runner.
