It is reported that N3E is TSMC's latest generation of 3nm process, that is, 3nm Ehanced enhanced version, on the basis of N3 to improve performance, reduce power consumption, expand the application range. Compared with N5, the power consumption under the same performance and density is reduced by 34%, and the performance under the same power consumption and density is increased by 18%, or the transistor density can be increased by 60%.
A leaked internal powerpoint presentation shows that TSMC's N3E process is progressing very well, with promising yield. The N3E process produces 256Mb SRAM chips with a yield of 80%, mobile and HPC chips with a yield of 80%, and ring oscillators with a yield of 92%.
