Apple self-developed 5G baseband to come? The appearance of the new machine has been greatly changed
Jul 26, 2024|
Starting with the iPhone 14 series, Apple has restarted the Plus version of the model. As a Plus model, its overall equipment is basically the same as the standard version, but the body is larger and the screen size is larger.
Before the launch of this version of the device, many speculated that this product, which is close to the size of the Pro model, should be favored by more users, and Apple may rely on this model to promote product sales.
However, with the official launch of the iPhone 14 series of devices, the demand for the iPhone 14 Plus was weak, and the sales performance was not as good as expected. In the overall series of models, the sales performance of the Plus version has been lagging behind.
In the next generation of the iPhone 15 series, Apple has continued this model lineup, but the sales performance of the Plus version has not been better.
Combined with the current Revelations, next year's iPhone lineup will continue the iPhone 17 Standard Edition and iPhone 17 Pro lineup from recent generations, but it will also introduce an iPhone 17 Slim (Ultra), which will be a completely redesigned model to explore new design options.
In terms of specific specifications, this newly designed ultra-thin model will be equipped with a screen of about 6.6 inches, a resolution of about 2740 by 1260, and a standard version of the A19 processor, the current size of the Smart Island.
It will also use a titanium aluminum alloy frame, the proportion of titanium is lower than the current Pro and Pro Max frame, with only a single lens in the rear.
At the same time, Apple's self-developed 5G modem has also heard new news after many "abandoned research and development" messages.
An update from analyst Ming-d Guo «¹ mentioned that Apple will release two iPhone models with Apple-designed 5G modems in 2025, namely the fourth-generation iPhone SE, which will be released in the first quarter of next year, and the new ultra-thin iPhone, which will be released in the third quarter of next year
Earlier this year, Apple and Qualcomm extended an agreement to supply 5G modems for iphones until 2026, so Apple's transition to its own 5G chips could take years.
In other words, users who want to experience Apple's self-developed 5G modem may have only two options for the time being.
