Apple's glowing MacBook logo is expected to return, displaying different colors

According to MacRumors, the company is considering bringing back Apple's iconic backlit logo light for future MacBook models. A new patent filed by Apple in May, entitled "Electronic Device with a Backlit partially mirror Structure," was approved, and a sketch of the patent suggests that the technology could be used in the MacBook.

The patent description says the rear of the enclosure can be equipped with a logo, and the logo or other device in the structure can be equipped with a backlit partial mirror. Mirrors can provide a shiny appearance to logos or other structures while blocking the view from internal components. At the same time, the partial transparency of the mirror allows backlit illumination from inside the device to pass through the mirror. In addition, the patent is for an electronic device with a backlit logo that can change color, from light gray to gold.

Apple released its PowerBook G3 laptop with a glowing logo in 1999, and it became a hit with users. Apple later removed the design from the 2015 MacBook model. The new patent, which was developed by three engineers who joined Apple in 2018, also suggests a different approach to the glowing logo, which could lead to a more stunning display.
