Apple plans to show search ads in its maps app on the iPhone starting next year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. "I believe work is already underway to roll out search ads in Apple's own Maps app, and we should begin to see it implemented sometime next year," Mr. Gurman wrote in Power On. Instead of displaying the offending banner ads directly in the APP, Apple's Maps app uses a search for content, such as "fast food", to give users priority in recommending stores that support the advertising costs.
