According to the convention, Apple will bring the iterative update of the iOS system in the annual WWDC event, and carry out a large area of user update push in September of the second half of the year.
Now, with the progress of time, new Revelations about the new iOS 18 have also emerged. According to the leaks, starting with iOS 18, "Apple ID" will be changed to a new name.
It is reported that Apple plans to change the name of "Apple ID" to "Apple Account" on its software platform and websites such as iCloud.com as early as this year.
Now, the latest leaks from sources confirm that information again and say the new "Apple Account" name will be available online and in Apple's next major software releases, such as iOS 18 for the iPhone and watchOS 11 for the Apple Watch, starting later this year.
Apple has previously referred to the funds added to Apple ids as "Apple account balances," while sources have revealed that there is an "Apple Account" team within the company. If Apple does make a name change later this year, the name Apple ID, which has been in use for more than 20 years, will be completely phased out.
It's not clear exactly why Apple changed the name, but as far as the name goes, "Apple Account" seems to be more straightforward and easy to understand.
According to the leaks, the change will be announced at the developer conference WWDC in June this year, and will come with iOS 18.
iOS 18 will feature some design elements inspired by the visionOS of the Vision Pro headset, though it won't exactly mimic visionOS.
As previously reported, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are expected to bring new changes in design elements and UI, bringing a design similar to the visionOS operating system.
At the same time, Apple is also likely to adjust the iOS user interface, menus, built-in apps, Safari, etc., are expected to adopt a new design.
In addition, iOS 18 will bring a smarter Siri. iOS 18 is expected to feature generative AI technology, which will improve the way Siri and the Messages app answer questions and automatically complete sentences.
Building on this, Apple is also exploring generative AI capabilities for other apps on its platform, including Apple Music, Pages, Keynote, and Xcode.
According to the report, Apple plans to integrate large language models into Siri to let users automate complex tasks, a feature that will be more deeply integrated with the shortcut key app.
For reference, in the iOS 17 upgrade, Compatible with iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone SE(2nd generation or later) models.
In other words, the compatible models of iOS 18 are basically the same as iOS 17, and old users can still upgrade to the major version of iOS.
