Apple A15 run points exposure, the difference is a bit much!
Oct 05, 2022| Apple A15 run points exposure, the difference is a bit much!
Recently, @Fronttron posted three GeekBench scores for the Apple A15 processor. The A14 has a single core score of 1,6006 and a multiple core score of 4,320, compared with 1,606 and 4,305.
Although this is only an engineering machine's performance, it is not surprising that the A15 single-core and multi-core performance does not improve. After all, TSMC's 3NM process will not be produced until next year at the earliest, so this year's A15 chip will definitely not enjoy the manufacturing bonus. With the same process, the only thing that can improve your performance is either overclocking or changing the architecture. If you don't do the former well, as you've seen (Snapdragon 888), the latter is unlikely to happen on Apple's side.

However, there are reports that the A15 will use TSMC's second generation 5nm process (5nm EUV). Based on the previous performance of Huawei Kirin 990 (4G) and Kirin 990 (5G), the improvement may not be so small, and it will be up to the engineers to optimize the future model.
