Analysts say TSMC's revenue will exceed $100 billion next year, a new record
Dec 12, 2022| December 12, according to the Taiwan Regional Economic Daily reported, benefiting from technology leadership and production scale expansion, the legal person estimated that TSMC annual revenue next year (2023) as soon as the challenge of 100 billion US dollars, a year-on-year growth of 28% to hit a new record, becoming the world's first pure wafer foundry annual revenue of more than 100 billion US dollars.
TSMC does not comment on pro forma corporate financial figures. TSMC President Wei Char-jia said in the French press conference that the semiconductor industry may fall into recession in 2023, but TSMC will still be a year of growth.
In addition, TSMC expects its revenue to reach a new high of about $78 billion (542.88 billion yuan) in 2022, representing a year-on-year growth rate of about 30 percent, according to the company's response to the US Department of Commerce.
Legal person pointed out that in 2023, the global semiconductor industry is still facing inventory adjustment, but TSMC 3 nano capacity opened and has a pricing advantage, it is expected that the relevant advanced manufacturing process began to contribute revenue, and other ownership processes are reflected in inflation and production cost increase and average price increase of 6%, driven by the price and volume, is expected to assist TSMC next year's revenue sprint to 100 billion dollars.
TSMC expects to mass produce 3nm in Nanke, Taiwan, within this year, with 18 wafer plants as the main production base. TSMC believes that 3nm will be another full-generation process after 5nm (N5), including multiple combinations of N3E, N3P and N3X. Among them, 3nm will be mass-produced this year, N3E will be mass-produced in the second half of next year, and N3P will be mass-produced in the year after to meet the market and customer demand.
In addition, TSMC continues to improve the 5nm family technology, including the 4nm extension of N4P and N4X, etc. It is expected that by the end of this year, more than 150 products of the 5nm family will have completed the design finalized. With the support of multiple new applications such as automotive, it will help TSMC maintain the high capacity utilization rate of the 5nm family.
