In fact, the European Union had been pushing manufacturers to use the same chargers for their smartphones and other devices until April, when it passed a revised proposal. The new proposals would require phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, game consoles and portable speakers to have USB-C ports. The exemption would apply only to devices that are too small to have a USB-C port, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers and some exercise devices.

In addition, Kuo says that due to the limitations of current wireless technology and the immaturity of Apple's own MagSafe ecosystem of wireless accessories, it's too early for Apple to release a no-port iPhone
