Oct 10, 2022| A USB-C iPhone may have to wait as soon as next year
This week, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted his speculation that the 2023 iPhone (or iPhone 15) will drop the Lightning port in favor of USB-C Now, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirms the move, citing "people familiar with the matter" who say Apple is already testing the new device.
He said it's possible that Apple is testing Type-C iphones because it's facing European Union legislation mandating USB-C, but that the iPhone won't get a new port until 2023. That timing is in line with previous Kuo news

Kuo has previously stated that USB-C can improve iPhone transfer and charging speeds, which means that iPhone 15 series that switch to USB-C will likely support higher chargers At present, the charging power of iPhone 13 series is about 20W. Although the charging speed of 5V1A has been improved a lot, for Android phones that have adopted 120W, 80W, 65W fast charge, Apple's 20W fast charge is still a little behind the pace.
However, based on the leaks so far, it's pretty certain that Lightning will still be on the new models to be released this fall (iPhone 14 series).
